M.Barros Consulting was founded in 1995 by Mônica Barros, who has more than 15 years of experience as consultant in the following areas: Energy, Finance and Marketing. She holds a D.Sc. degree in Time Series Analysis (PUC-Rio, Brazil), a M.Sc. in Statistics (The University of Texas at Austin), a B.Sc. – Mathematics (University of Washington) and a B. A. in Economics (UNESA, Brasil).
She worked (or was a consultant) for several of Brazil's top corporations, including: El Paso Merchant Energy, PETROS (Brazil's second largest pension fund), Guaraniana S/A (One of the largest electric sector holding companies in Brazil), Globo TV network (the largest TV network in Brazil), H. Stern Jewelers, ONS (The Independent System Operator for the Brazilian Electric System), ANP (National Petroleum Agency), CEPEL (Electrical Energy Research Center), Eletrobrás (Federally owned electric sector holding company) , Light and AMPLA (Electricity Distributors in Rio de Janeiro), Unilever.
M.Barros Consulting activities have centered on:
- quantitative modeling,
- risk management,
- data analysis and
- time series analysis and forecasting.
The focus is on providing solutions and build models to aid companies in their strategic decisions.
M.Barros developed projects on the following areas:
